Wally on the Issues

Education:
I believe that our public schools need more funding. Kids need a chance to explore more avenues. I think baseball haikus need to be taught in every elementary school classroom. We should also require more from our high school students. I think every student should be required to pass a Baseball Aptitude Test (BAT) in order to graduate. I know it is a lot to ask, but too many young people are graduating from high school who don't even know what a sacrifice fly is. It's apalling.

Taxes:
We must make an effort to reduce the inequities that currently exist in our society. The rich are getting richer and the poor are getting poorer. For example, the New York Yankees will have a $195 million payroll this season. The Tampa Bay Devil Rays will spend only $30 million. This is insane. The only answer is to tax those in the upper income brackets to help those with lower incomes.

Technology:
We should continue to support all legislation that furthers technology. We should not, under any circumstances, levy taxes on the internet. I do feel that there is one exception, however. If elected, I will mandate that all scoreboards will henceforth be manually operated.

Radar Gun Control:
It sickens me that the speed of pitches are so often exaggerated. The radar guns used today add 2 to 3 miles per hour. I think we need to place more emphasis on the testing of these machines.
