Patriots History
The Boston Patriots began play as a charter member in the American Football League in 1960. The franchise's
first game came on September 9, 1960, a 13-10 loss to the Denver Broncos. The Boston Patriots were
renamed the New England Patriots in 1971. The Patriots played in several stadiums including Fenway Park
and Harvard Stadium before finding a home in Foxborough in 1971. In 2007, the Patriots won their eleventh
division championship and sixth conference championship. The Patriots won their first Superbowl in
January of 2002 in New Orleans. Four members of the Patriots are in the NFL Hall of Fame in Canton,
