Celtics History

The Boston Celtics are quite simply the most storied franchise in professional basketball history. The Celtics have won 16 World Championships, more than any other NBA franchise, the last coming in 1986. Led by head coach Red Auerbach, the Celtics won eight champsionships in a row from 1959 through 1966. This run occurred in the middle of a stretch in which the Celtics won 11 titles in 13 years. The Celtics franchise has retired 20 uniform numbers and a microphone (for legendary announcer Johnny Most). The NBA Hall of Fame is loaded with former Celtics.
